Building a technology-rich
start-up.

The academic team had spent many years working in an area of biotechnology that was now suddenly quite ‘hot’. How could they  take advantage of this?

We worked with the team to explore the commercial potential of a number of technologies and capabilities, and founded a new company with them to take this work forward. We focused on one opportunity, for which we were able to win funding from InnovateUK and NC3Rs.

We then led the commercial aspects of the business – building the team, validating and protecting the technology, licensing in other key technologies and confirming freedom to operate, raising £2m in seed and follow-on funding, engaging with potential customers and securing first revenues.

Finally, with the company positioned for growth, we handed over to a full-time management team.
